About DCU

History

Dallas Credit Union was granted its charter on December 1, 1948. The original name of the credit union was the Dallas Region Centennial Federal Credit Union.

Dallas Credit Union was granted its charter on December 1, 1948. In 1961 Alice Shankles, the first full-time employee was hired as manager. Carol Bledsoe became CEO 1979 & Dee Pennington was promoted to CEO in 2004.

In January 1967, the name of the credit union was changed to Dallas Federal Credit Union.

In August 2002, our regulators granted approval to serve anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the downtown Dallas community. Because of this expansion, we now use the name Dallas Credit Union. By adding this group to our field of membership, we can better serve you with increased low cost, cutting edge financial services. We are looking forward to the opportunity to reach out to those in the community who do not presently enjoy the benefits of credit union membership.

Our Current asset size is $35 million with 55 services and products.

Many amendments over the years have been made to our field of membership; however the main sponsors remain Social Security Administration, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Education. In addition to serving our main sponsors and the downtown Dallas community, we also have a number of small employee groups. If you are part of any of these groups or are a family member, you can open an account at DCU.

Your credit union is a full service financial institution offering a variety of savings and lending products. We use our Web site, home banking, e-mail, fax and our 24-hour Data Line (Audio Response phone service) to deliver these products and services with ease and convenience. We continue to serve members from all across the nation without having to come into the credit union office. DCU is also a member of the Shared Branching Network, which allows its members to bank at participating credit unions around the nation.

In July of 2005 DCU opened its second branch at the Urban Market grocery store in downtown Dallas.

DCU has 58 years of experience meeting our members' needs. You can feel confident that we are constantly looking at new opportunities to enhance our products that will save you time and money.

Our board, management and staff are truly dedicated to providing excellent member service.
