In spite of these activities, you can bank online with confidence and protect your identity by following a few simple steps.

1. Never give out your information unless you initiate the call or visit.  Dallas Credit Union will never solicit your account number.  The only time we ask for it is when you call us or you visit us online or in our lobby.  This is a good rule to follow with any of your financial institutions.

2. Never use an unsecured site to enter personal information.  Dallas Credit Union’s online banking products and applications are secured with 128-bit encryption.  To see if a site is secure, look for the lock in the bottom left-hand corner in Internet Explorer, a yellow address bar in Mozilla Firefox, and a key in the bottom left-hand corner in Netscape Navigator.

3. If you are unsure of a website or email, simply leave or delete it.  Never feel obligated to read or respond to an email or give personal information.  If you’re unsure of an email, don’t open it and delete it immediately.

4. Change your online passwords frequently.  Once a month is a good rule of thumb.

5. Contact Dallas Credit Union or any of your financial institutions if you suspect fraud.
6. Use common sense.  If something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't right.  If something seems too good to be true, it's probably false.
